Way Bandy 1941 - 1986, he is the make up artist icon. He started the whole celebrity/editorial makeup artist movement in the 70s. He practiced his make up skills on Nancy Reagan, Elizabeth Taylor, Raquel Welch and many more of the world's most famous women. He worked with all the top magazines and photographers. In 1971 he went on his own as a freelence artist and worked with just about every top model and movie star of the time. Famous celebrities like ELIZABETH TAYLOR, CHER, and BARBRA STREISAND became huge fans of his. He died of AIDS in 1986.

The Artisitic and Creative Gay Heros - Alexander McQueen

Alexander McQueen 1969-2010, who died earlier this month (11 Feb) has been a shock to all. He was born to a taxi driver and and social science teacher in London. He grew up in a council flat, governmental housing. His family was poor and couldn't afford to buy dresses for his 3 sisters, so he started making dresses for his sisters at a young age and later decided to become a fashion designer. At first he applied for a job at London's prestigious Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Designs as a pattern cutter tutor, and because of the strength of his portfolio, he was persuaded by the head of master courses to enroll in the course as a student. He is famous for his unconventional designs, shock tactics and impleccable tailoring, earning him the title "The Rebellious Boy" in the fashion industry. McQueen's "Bumpsters" started the trend in low rise jeans. He has been credited with bringing drama and extravagance to the catwalk and often shocked and surprised audiences. Some of his shocking and unconventional collections and fashions shows include "Highland Rape", "Human Chess Game", "Shipwreck", a recreation of a shipwreck, "Widows of Culloden", featured a life-sized hologram of supermodel Kate Moss dressed in yards of rippling fabric. He died by hanging himself, 9 days after his mother's death. Although he's gone but the inspirations he had given the world will be eternal.

List Artists Who Are Gay

Were there any gay artists that you think I should write about?
They can be of different nationalities. asians...europeans...canadians...americans..you name it :)
List them in the comment box, and I will write about them and also add their names to the list of gay artists.

The Trend of Gay Theme Comics

The concept of using gay themes in comics is new, as the gay characters were often ommited purposely from the content of comic books due to censorship or the perception that comics are only for children.
The mention of homosexuality in US comics were forbidden by the Comics Code Authority (CCA) until 1989. Since the 1990, gay themes have become more common in US comics. The contents of those comics featured more gay main characters and portrayed them as the stars or heros. The lack of censorship and greater acceptance of gay theme comics led to less controversy about the representation of gay characters.

Fusion of Art and Homosexuality

When art fused with homosexuality, it shows not only hidden thoughts and feelings and the physical beauty, it also propagates the awareness that we should break the invisible barrier between the straight and gay community, where homosexuality can be accepted by more people.

Art and Homosexuality

Art can be used to depict the physical and inner beauty of homosexuality, whether it is in male or female forms. Art helps to bring out the feeling of pride within homosexuality through colours, shapes, lines and texture. There's pride within homosexuality, because it is something that we all have the right to posess. It should be perceived as a human thing; an every day thing; a normal thing, because there is love. It is just another style of expressing love and warmth.

What art does to homosexuality

An intuitive message comes when creating gay art, perhaps it is playful, calming, erotic, disturbing, political or even sacred. Art makes us flirt with the issues and experiences the gay and lesbian community faces in everyday life. Art helps the gay and lesbian communities to speak up about their problems, because art allows freedom to explore the inner selves of people and the thoughts they hide.
